I’m a Church Historian, Marketer, Father, Husband, Harpist and Life-long Learner. I started the podcast “The Baptist Heritage” in the spring of 2020 after graduating from Liberty University (M.Div Church History). Named after the book of the same title by H. Leon McBeth, “The Baptist Heritage” is a podcast that explores the origin of the Baptist denomination against the broad ecumenical movement from the sixteenth century to present day. Each episode is under half an hour and loaded with information on people, events, and primary texts. Knowing that it can all be a little much, I’ve provided a full transcript complete with footnotes in the description of each episode. I encourage you to download them and study at your leisure, or share them with a group.
This is the companion website for the podcast. In the near future, there will be study guides, quizzes, links to augment the learning experience – a sort of mixed-media educational ministry.
In my study of Scripture and history I am reminded of 1 Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (NIV)”
